How to Use AI for Giving Tuesday Content Without Losing Your Voice

communications generosity giving givingtuesday Oct 15, 2026

AI can draft your Giving Tuesday emails, texts, and social posts in minutes. It can also write a version that sounds like every other fundraising email in your supporter's inbox. The order in which you use it decides which one you get.

Giving Tuesday is December 1, which is 47 days from today. Here is the sequence I recommend.

How to Use AI for Giving Tuesday Content in 4 Steps

  1. Decide the goal, the one big ask, and the core message yourself.
  2. Give AI those decisions and ask for variations.
  3. Rewrite each draft in your own voice with details only your team knows.
  4. Verify every fact and read the final version out loud.

1. Decide the Strategy Yourself

AI works from what you give it. If you give it nothing, it fills the page with generic language. Write your goal, your one big ask, and your core message first. The core message is 4 sentences: who is struggling, what you do about it, what a gift makes possible, and what the reader should do today.

2. Hand AI the Decisions and Ask for Options

Paste in the 4 sentences and the ask, then request a specific set of drafts. A prompt like this works well:

Here is our core message: [paste]. Here is our one big ask: [paste]. Write 10 subject lines for the Giving Tuesday launch email. Use only the facts I gave you. Do not invent statistics, names, or outcomes.

Ask for subject lines, short social posts, a text message, and a thank-you note. Each request gets its own prompt so you can judge the results one at a time.

3. Rewrite Every Draft in Your Voice

A draft from AI is a starting point. A person on your team makes it theirs. That means rewriting the opening line in the way you would say it to a supporter, adding the specific detail that only someone close to the work would know, and removing any phrase that could appear in another organization's email without changes.

This step is real work, and it is where your campaign gets its personality. Budget time for it on the calendar.

4. Verify Facts and Read It Aloud

AI can state a statistic or an outcome that sounds right and has no source behind it. Check every number, name, and claim against your own records. Remove anything you cannot confirm.

Then read the message aloud. If a sentence sounds like something you would never say to a supporter in person, rewrite it.

Why This Order Works

You supply the strategy and the voice. AI supplies speed. Your supporters hear a consistent story in your words.

Where This Fits in Your Plan

We are releasing an entire suite of workshops because we believe more nonprofits' missions should be funded. There are so many good causes, and funding limitations throttle their impact. Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to give some new life to a cause-driven team's work.

The Giving Tuesday Campaign Blueprint is the first workshop. It helps you write the goal, the one big ask, the calendar, and the core message, which are the inputs AI needs from you.

Write your core message in the Giving Tuesday Campaign Blueprint and then put AI to work on the drafts.
